Stamford St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal Announcement
Stamford, CT – October 09, 2025 — The Irish American Cultural Society of Stamford (IACSOS) announce Daniel P. Brennan as the Grand Marshal for the 2026 Stamford St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Dan, who is a partner of Brennan & Vlahakis Insurance Agency on Summer Street, was introduced as the next grand marshal at an event Thursday evening, October 9th, at Stamford’s Hibernian Hall Philip Sheridan Division on Greyrock Place. The event was the epitome of the saying “the more the merrier,” as the hall was filled with family and friends, accompanied by excellent food and drink. The night marking Dan Brennan as the next grand marshal was a grand way to kick off the 2026 parade season.
A fifth-generation Stamford native and Irish American, Dan’s roots in Stamford can be traced back to his great-great grandfather, William H. Brennan who was born in Ireland in 1829 and emigrated to Stamford in the years thereafter. William H. Brennan’s son, also named William H. Brennan, was Stamford’s second Chief of Police, appointed by mayor Homer S. Cummings, from 1903 until his death in 1923. Dan’s grandfather, Bill Brennan, was on the Stamford High School football team of 1913, the year they won the State Championship. Dan, himself, graduated from Stamford Catholic High School, where he was Captain of the FCIAC Championship Football Team. He then went on to graduate from The University of Rhode Island.
Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, who co-founded the William H. Brennan, Inc. real estate and insurance brokerage firm in 1946, Dan is still in the insurance industry, starting Brennan & Vlahakis Insurance with Nicholas Vlahakis, in 1992.
Dan learned the value of community from his parents, William H. Brennan, Jr., and Marie Brennan. Both were active parishioners of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church and were involved in many other community organizations, including St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Knights of Columbus, and the All-Stamford Club.
Dan is an active member and past President of The State Street Debating Society and served on the board of the E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Commission, Stamford National Little League, and Kids Helping Kids. Dan is also a member of Woodway Country Club and enjoys golfing in his free time.
Dan and his wife Toni are lifelong residents of Stamford and parishioners of St. Leo’s Parish. They have three children, Daniel Jr., Joseph, and Kaitlyn.
Dan’s family history along with his roots to Stamford make him a great choice to be the Grand Marshal. The Irish American Culture Society of Stamford extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dan Brennan on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to his leading the parade on March 7, 2026.
